Neurodivergent Teens & Adults
Neurodivergent is a word for a brain that is wired differently from what the world calls typical. When I use it, I mean autism, ADHD, dyslexia and other learning differences, sensory processing differences, and the many people who carry more than one of these at once. A difference in wiring is only that, a difference. It is how God made some of us, and I have spent my career loving those people.
For thirty years I worked with the students nobody knew what to do with. The child who could not sit still. The teenager who understood everything and could not say it. The one who melted down at the fire drill and got called defiant. The one who read every book in the library and had no friends. I learned early that the kids labeled the problem were mostly the kids nobody had taken the time to understand. Understanding them became my work, and then my calling.
Who I work with
- Autistic teens and adults, including those diagnosed late or never formally diagnosed
- Teens and adults with ADHD
- People with dyslexia, dyscalculia, and other learning differences
- People with sensory processing differences
- Parents, spouses, and families learning how to love and support a neurodivergent person well
What our work looks like
You do not have to mask with me. Sessions move at your pace. There is no pressure to make eye contact, no penalty for needing a minute, and no judgment for the way you stim, think, or process. We work on what you actually want help with: anxiety, overwhelm, friendships, school, work, family, faith, and the exhaustion of performing normal all day. Along the way I will help you see your own wiring the way God sees it, with purpose in it, and help the people around you see it too.
If you are a parent, we work on the same thing from your side: hearing what your child is telling you through their behavior, building a home where they can settle, and finding the school supports they are entitled to. I spent three decades inside the school system, and I know how to get those doors open.
Psalm 139 says we are fearfully and wonderfully made. I believe that about every neurodivergent person I have ever sat with, and I would be honored to help you believe it too.
